FanDuel Picks for Daily Fantasy Football Week 9: DFS Lineup Advice and Sleepers

Injuries are one of the worst parts about DFS - aside from losing, that is. Last week, if you used Ryan Fitzpatrick in his golden matchup, you likely were struck by the injury, which in turn made you lose. Unfortunately, these are not predictable, but we always need to put ourselves in the best position to win.

In this article, my FanDuel DFS lineup targets, I will be headlining a few of my top plays on FanDuel for Week 9 of the daily fantasy football season.

These DFS lineup picks can range from the elite tier of players, to a few guys that I feel are a bit overpriced on FanDuel. Let's get to it!

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers received five total writing awards and 13 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, tops in the industry! Congrats to all the award winners and nominees including Best NFL Series, MLB Series, NBA Writer, PGA Writer and Player Notes writer of the year. FanDuel DFS Quarterbacks for Week 9

Tom Brady - QB, NE (vs WAS, $9,500)

Brady has been playing unbelievably well this season, as he has thrown for over 2,400 yards with 20 touchdowns in only seven games. He gets a great matchup against the Redskins, who have been struggling as a secondary recently. Brady brings a great combination of consistency and upside to the table, and he has even been hitting value in blowout games. That is the only concern of this game, but the Patriots tend to throw the ball a bit more than most team in blowouts, which makes Brady a safe option in all leagues.

Derek Carr - QB, OAK (at PIT, $7,000)

Carr is a quarterback that can heat up and cool off in the blink of an eye. Right now, he’s heating up, as he threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns against a great Jets secondary. He’ll get a much easier matchup against the Steelers, who have the offense to turn this game into a shootout. Carr has great weapons on the outside, and they have the ability to score from anywhere on the field. He's is a bit risky, but his price is low, he gets a good matchup, and he has nearly as much upside as anyone on the slate. He makes a great tournament option this week.

FanDuel DFS Running Backs for Week 9

Devonta Freeman - RB, ATL (at SF, $8,900)

This is a toss-up between Freeman and Gurley, but Freeman is slightly cheaper, which gave him the edge. Freeman is touching the ball at least 20 times per game, which gives him a great floor. He also has a high ceiling because of his natural abilities and touchdown upside. He gets a plus matchup against the 49ers, who have decimated by injuries and retirements this offseason. Freeman has failed to score a touchdown in his last two games, but he still scored 14 and 16.1 fantasy points in them. He’s a great play in all leagues, and both he and Gurley should be used this week.

Darren McFadden - RB, DAL (vs PHI, $6,500)

McFadden has started the last two games for the Cowboys, and they have given him 57 total touches. He has turned those into 275 yards and one touchdown. He also had a receiving touchdown called back, which shows that his upside is a bit higher than he has scored this season. He gets a matchup against an average Philadelphia run defense, and the Cowboys will likely feed their bell cow again this week. His price is fairly low compared to the other starting running backs, and McFadden can be used in all leagues.

FanDuel DFS Wide Receivers for Week 9

Alshon Jeffery - WR, CHI (at SD, $7,900)

Jeffery is back from injury, and he’s playing like many people expected him to this year. In his last two games, he has recorded 18 catches for 263 yards and two touchdowns (47.3 fantasy points). He gets a great matchup against the Chargers, who have really struggled on defense this season. Jeffery will continue to see a high amount of targets in the Bears pass-happy offense, especially with Matt Forte doubtful this week. Jeffery will be the featured man on offense, and it wouldn’t be shocking if he leads the NFL in receiving this week.

Michael Crabtree - WR, OAK (at PIT, $5,800)

While Amari Cooper is the general consensus as the Raiders top receiving option, Michael Crabtree is quietly leading them in targets with 68 on the season. He has turned those targets into 40 receptions for 483 yards and three touchdowns. He has been playing extremely well recently, as he has recorded 13 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns over his last two games. He’ll get a good matchup against the Steelers, who have a secondary that has really struggled at times this season. The Raiders have been putting the ball in the end zone consistently, and this game could quickly turn into a shootout. Crabtree can be used in all leagues.

FanDuel DFS Tight Ends for Week 9

Antonio Gates - TE, SD (vs CHI, $6,000)

The Gronk is an obvious play here, but Gates is the guy I’m going to write up. He gets a great matchup against the Bears, who can't stop anyone from scoring. The Chargers recently lost Keenan Allen to an injury, which means Gates will likely see an uptick in targets, and he should play a full game's worth of snaps this week. In two games without an injury, Gates has recorded 18 catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns. He’s the preferred red zone target for Rivers, and he can be used in all leagues this week.

Heath Miller - TE, PIT (vs OAK, $5,800)

Miller’s fantasy value seems to completely rely on the play of Ben Roethlisberger. Miller has recorded 20 receptions for 204 yards and one touchdown in three games with Roethlisberger, while he only has five receptions for 52 yards and 0 touchdowns without Big Ben. He gets a great matchup this week against the Raiders, who are the worst team in the NFL against the tight end. Miller is coming off a great game, and he should be able to contribute at a high level against Oakland as well.
