Samardzija, 30, had a rough season in his one and only year with the Chicago White Sox. His trikeout rate declined while he surrendered a career-high 29 home runs. Over 214.0 innings, he pitched to an 11-13 record with a career-high 4.96 ERA. Over his eight-year career, Samardzija has received poor run support, but he should receive attention in free agency.
He is expected to reject the qualifying offer.
