As the fantasy football regular season comes to a close, a solid performance is as critical now as it's ever been during any part of the season. Let's take a look at three wide receivers who are poised to have big games on Sunday.
The Atlanta Falcons' season is crumbling before our very eyes, but wide receiver Julio Jones hasn't slowed down a bit. Even though he only finished with five catches for 56 yards in Week 12, Jones had amassed nearly 460 yards and 50 fantasy points in his three weeks before that. Jones is still arguably the best receiver in the league, and he's in for a prime matchup against a Tampa Bay team that struggles mightily at home. Atlanta is desperate for a win this week, and Jones is sure to get plenty of throws his way. In Atlanta's Week 8 tilt with the Buccaneers, Jones finished with 12 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.
In Week 12, Alshon Jeffery silenced any doubters about the bum hamstring that's given him fits all season long. Jeffery finished with seven catches for 90 yards on the road against Green Bay on Thanksgiving, and Jay Cutler targeted him 11 times. Jeffery remains the Bears' most reliable target, and he'll have a juicy matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, who remain one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL. This will only be Jeffery's third game at home this season thanks to an injury-riddled year, but he's made the most of those opportunities. In his only two home games this year, Jeffery has 15 catches for 194 yards and one touchdown, an average of about 13 fantasy points per game.
Brandon LaFell hasn't been much of a factor since returning to the Patriots' lineup in Week 7, but Tom Brady continues to look for him in the passing game. New England has a very favorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles' abysmal pass defense on Sunday, and LaFell will be Brady's 2nd most reliable target, behind Amendola who is likely to play, now that the Patriots will be without Rob Gronkowski. The Eagles are dead-last in defending wide receivers in terms of fantasy scoring, according to ESPN, so don't be surprised if LaFell has his best game of the season on Sunday.
