BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
OWNED IN: 42% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS: As have several other teams around the association, the Memphis Grizzlies have adopted the small ball strategy perfected by the Golden State Warriors. Guard Courtney Lee has been the biggest beneficiary of this change, taking the place of two-time all-star forward Zach Randolph, despite Randolph sitting third on the team in scoring and first in rebounding.
Lee had the his best game of the season Wednesday night against the Bulls. The veteran posted 18 points, seven boards, six assists, two steals and just one turnover while shooting 8-11 from the floor and knocking down both of his threes. These numbers came in 37 minutes of action, which, despite being the third most minutes he has seen all year, were actually the third most in as many days. He is averaging 14 points per game on 60% shooting since being inserted into the starting lineup. Even though the Grizzlies have lost two of three since changing up the starting lineup, head coach Dave Joerger seems content keeping things this way.
Lee still hasn't hit must-own status, as he is prone to cold streaks and is still at risk of losing minutes to Randolph again. That happened Friday night, when his minutes fell back down to 28 and he scored only 8 points on 2/8 shooting with one three, two assists, one steal, two turnovers, and zeros across the rest of the board. However, as long as he's starting, he should continue to thrive in his new role, and as a result, he has garnered a ton of fantasy appeal.
