Generally speaking, if you and your fantasy team are in need of some guaranteed points at the quarterback position, Blake Bortles and Matthew Stafford aren’t the first names that come to mind. Sure, it’s possible that both put up some monster numbers from time to time, but they’re perfectly capable of doing the complete opposite, as well. That said, Week 15 promises to be a solid one for both quarterbacks.
For starters, Bortles was arguable the best quarterback in the league against the Indianapolis Colts last week. Yes, he managed to chalk up 31 fantasy points in most standard leagues, but he’s now scored at least 36 points in his last three games.
Not to shabby for the sophomore quarterback, honestly. But the streak gets even better—in four of his last five home games, he’s brought in at least 24 fantasy points for those who’ve taken a gamble on him and the shaky Jacksonville Jaguars.
Furthermore, this weekend, the Jaguars welcome the coldest team in the NFL to EverBank Field in Jacksonville: the Atlanta Falcons. Seeing as how Bortles is finally gelling with Allen Hurns, Allen Robinson and Julius Thomas, the Falcons might be in for a world of hurt. Needless to say, have confidence in Bortles and the Jaguars. As strange as that may sound, you’ll be glad you did.
Now, down to New Orleans where Stafford and the Lions will be facing Drew Brees and his high-octane offense. Yes, most fantasy experts have Brees pegged to rip apart the Lions defense, but Stafford is also, likely to have his fair share of success.
Truthfully, if you look to Stafford’s road record this season, you’ll have reason to doubt if he can produce while in the Superdome. No joke—in six road games, he’s only racked up 20 fantasy points once. However, three of those games were against the likes of Green Bay, Kansas City and Seattle, so he’s faced some tough competition.
The biggest difference this week? Stafford is bound to find himself in a shootout with Brees. Last year, though Stafford put up only 19 points against the Saints, on Sunday, more than likely, that will be his point production’s floor. So, worried that you might be out of luck with your quarterback this week? Look no further than Bortles and Stafford. Both are likely to fly under your league’s radar, and you’d be wise to pick them up.
