With the suspension to Odell Beckham Jr. in effect for Sunday, the door of opportunity swings wide open for several other players on New York. The Giants desperately cling to their playoff hopes and enter a must-win against the Minnesota Vikings. But can any of the three listed below step up in OBJ's absence, enough to lead the G-Men to victory, and provide quality production for fantasy owners? Which is actually worth giving a look?
Let's start with the obvious choice here. Rueben Randle will certainly step in as the Giants number one receiver and Eli's favorite target. He's also the most established out of the three and is second in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns on the Giants behind Beckham Jr. Randle has scored a touchdown in two straight games and three out of his last four.
The Giants, despite their infamous collapses and shoddy defense this season, score a lot of points. According to ESPN.com, the Vikings have only allowed seven rushing touchdowns but 21 through the air. Randle has been boosted up to at least a WR3, and should be considered, especially by fantasy owners of OBJ.
Dwayne Harris' value has also increased with OBJ's costly, one-game slap on the wrist. Although, he is listed as questionable and was sidelined at practice on Wednesday, wearing a sling around his shoulder, according to ESPN.com. If he can't suit up, the appeal of starting Randle increases even more.
Despite the opening for Harris, he has not scored in four straight games and has only four touchdowns on the season. He's broken out on a couple different occasions this season but not consistently enough to be trusted in a fantasy championship.
If Harris doesn't dress for Sunday's game, Will Tye's stock rises even more. The tight end has had five straight solid fantasy performances in PPR formats, has scored touchdowns in two straight, and has grabbed five or more catches in four out of his last five games. Tye has been relatively reliable and could serve as a TE2 in a desperation role.
The Giants throw the ball 65.6% of the time inside the red zone, stats favoring Tye and Randle.
