NBA Guards: Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups & Sleepers

The Waiver Wire is filled with must add guards this week. All four are either producing at a high level or have the potential and upside to produce at a high level. With Eric Bledsoe, Jarrett Jack, Bradley Beal, and other guards injured it is important to always find a productive and consistent replacement. The four guys down below are some of the top options available on waivers, so let's take a look at what they can provide fantasy owners.

Be sure to check out RotoBaller's other Week 12 NBA coverage, including our Week 12 Waiver Wire Forwards and Centers.

NBA Guards: Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickups & Sleepers

Trey Burke (UTA, PG) - 49% Owned

Burke is quietly having a "breakout" season. Some of Burke's overall stats aren't at the highest they've been during his career. Instead Burke is playing some of the most effective and efficient basketball of his pro career. His role coming off the bench as a facilitator and scorer fits Burke's overall skill set perfectly. Over the last two weeks he's averaging 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists while shooting 43% from the field, 80% from the free throw line, and 35% from the three point line. Burke's most recent average of 16 is higher than should be expected from he. He is a realistic 12 point, 3 rebound, and 4 assist player that also shoots threes. Trey is a player that is steadily developing and should have a long career if he can continue to contribute as he has over the last two months.

Jeremy Lin (CHA, PG/SG) - 45% Owned

Lin has continued to stay scorching hot over the last month. He has at least 10 straight games of 13+ points as he's now averaging around 32 minutes per game. Over the last 30 days he's averaing 16 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists a game while shooting while putting up good shooting percentages. Lin is a must add for anyone lacking guard depth or just anyone with a player that has underperformed. Lin provides the necessary relief for Kemba Walker as both a ball handler and scorer. Lin's role on the team is clearly defined and has only grown since he first arrived in Charlotte.

Zach LaVine (MIN, PG/SG) - 35% Owned

Unlike Trey Burke and Jeremy Lin, LaVine has been unable to sustain his early season success. Sometimes LaVine looks like the most explosive pure scoring option on the Timberwolves and other times he barely shows up despite getting 25+ minutes of playing time. Many people have been dropping LaVine lately because of a lackluster last two weeks (he's averaging 5 points and 2 assists on 25% shooting from the field during that time). LaVine has an incredible amount of upside and has shown to be an explosive scorer this season. Because of his inconsistent play and the Timberwolves rotation of guards, it makes it hard to trust LaVine with a roster spot.

Dennis Schroder (ATL, PG) - 21% Owned

The fact that Schroder is only owned in 1 out of 5 Yahoo! Fantasy basketball teams is absolutely and completely absurd. It is possible to argue that Schroeder has been better than half the starting point guards in the league this season despite the fact he is very clearly a backup to Jeff Teague. While I personally do not like his game, it has improved consistently and he is without question a major talent. And whether I find his game attractive or not is irrelevant when it comes to his fantasy numbers. Over the last month the young German is averaging 12 points, 5.5 assists, and 1.2 three pointers made on 45% from the field, 79% from the free throw line, and 32% from the three point line. He managed to put these stats up in only 20 minutes a game. Schroder is a must add for anyone looking for points and assists.
