Dellin Betances a Top Five Holds Candidate

Towards the end of the 2015 season, Dellin Betances struggled with his command, and although still dominant at times, the young reliever appeared sluggish. In September, Betances relinquished 11 hits and 11 walks in 14.2 innings pitched, the highest in any month of his short professional career. Granted Betances is still working out the kinks entering his third full season, he was simply overworked; something the Yankees have tried to avoid in the past with the likes of Phil Hughes and Joba Chamberlain. This was a result of inconsistency in the Yankees bullpen. Although, this isn't a problem that should emerge in 2016.

Now looking up at Miller and Aroldis Chapman, there is less pressure for Betances to constantly be the guy to stop the bleeding, and will likely not be as overworked. Betances should be scooped up later in drafts as he still has closer-like stuff, and a whole lot of upside. In two full seasons, Betances struck out an impressive 266 batters in 174 innings pitched. He was tied for fifth in the MLB with 28 holds and among the top relievers in K's. For 2016, expect Betances to again be at the top of both categories, while inheriting some save opportunities as well.
