Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for March 3rd of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.
Busy night in the NHL with 12 games on the schedule. There are four teams (CHI, TOR, ANH, MON) who are playing on back to back nights and four teams (CGY, MTL, PIT, TOR) who are playing a third game in four nights.
The playoff races are heating up in both divisions with lots of teams still bidding for a spot in the post season. Teams that made trades at the deadline will be looking to get their new players comfortable which could mean some extra opportunities.
Whether you are playing cash games or tournaments there is a ton of great plays from top to bottom including a wide range of goaltenders depending on your risk level. At this time only two goalies (Kinkaid - NJ, Pickard - COL) are confirmed starting so be sure to check LeftWingLock prior to lineup lock for a list of all the confirmed starting goalies.

NHL DFS Picks for Thursday, March 3rd
A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.
For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.
Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.
Jonathan Quick - Goaltender, Kings (Draftkings - $8,400 FanDuel - $8,600)
Top option on the night as the Kings are big home favorites to the visiting Canadiens who are playing on back to back nights and a third game in four nights on the road. Before losing to the Ducks last time out he was on top of his game allowing two goals or less in six straight games going 4-1-1. He faced the Habs back in December and stopped 45 shots in a 3-0 shutout win.
Jonathan Toews - Center, Blackhawks (DraftKings - $5,900 FanDuel - $7,900)
He has been a terrific fantasy option lately on DraftKings where his price is below $6K. In his last 10 games he has picked up nine points including two on the powerplay and two short handed. He also got a boost at the trade deadline as the Hawks picked up Andrew Ladd to play wing with Toews as they make their playoff push in the Western Conference.
Ryan Callahan - Winger, Lightning (DraftKings - $5,000 FanDuel - $5,800)
The Bolts have won seven straight and eight of their last 10 game sand now sit only two points behind Atlantic Division leading Florida. Callahan has played a huge role on the first line with Steven Stamkos and has tallied 11 points in his last 10 games with 25 shots and a +6 rating. With a salary below $6k he makes a great play in any format.
Tomas Hertl - Winger, Sharks (DraftKings - $5,300 FanDuel - $5,000)
He is a very consistent mid range option playing on the top line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski. He lacks multi point and powerplay upside but is great for cash games with seven points in his last 10 games with 28 shots, nine blocks and a +6 rating for the Sharks.
Jake Muzzin - Defense, Kings (DraftKings - $5,300 FanDuel - $5,300)
One of the most consistent options in the $5K range on defense. Even with only three points in his last 10 games he has still provided a stable floor averaging around three fantasy points per game on both sites.
