ANALYSIS: Since leaving the Tampa Bay Rays in 2013 and changing his name, Melvin Upton Jr. has kind of disappeared from the baseball and fantasy world. With his brother getting most of the name-recognition of late, Melvin now looks to reclaim his value, and looks to stay healthy for a full season for the first time since 2014.
That's the biggest concern with Upton, staying healthy. But he's proven his worth in the past, hitting more than 20 home runs three times in his career. On top of his power, it was his speed that made him truly relevant for fantasy, stealing more than 30 bases five times and more than 40 three times in his career. Upton has swiped six bags so far in 2016, and although caught twice, has resumed his aggressiveness on the base paths. He's also gone yard twice, and will certainly flirt with a 10/10 season, at least. As long as he stays on the field and away from the DL, Upton is worth an add.
