Brandon Finnegan (CIN, SP/RP) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 22% of Fleaflicker leagues

ANALYSIS: A shaky start in late April where he was tagged for five runs and seven hits in four innings of work is as rough as it's gotten for Brandon Finnegan early on in the 2016 season. Five other appearances, five quality starts. Finnegan bounced back nicely from his loss to the Chicago Cubs in his most recent start, pitching six innings of three run ball, striking out four and inducing 10 ground ball outs.  Unfortunately, Finnegan has been plagued by two things that could remain an issue as the season progresses; a disappointing bullpen and little run support.

Finnegan will also need to limit the walks as his BB/9 is at an unfavorable 4.76. Regardless, Finnegan can eat up innings for deeper leagues rostering at least eight pitcher slots, and has proven his worth early on. He did, however, tweak his hamstring during his last start, but is confident that he won't miss any time, according to ESPN.com. Keep an eye on his status before picking him up and plugging him in. If all goes well, Finnegan draws the Milwaukee Brewers in his next start.
