ANALYSIS: We've all seen the footage, the memes, and the highlights. We have all heard Ron Darling's emphatic home run call as Bartolo Colon launched one to left field, acting like the dude just threw a no-no. Well, I guess for a 42 year old pitcher who's waited 19 seasons to go yard, it's pretty darn close. His first career home run aside, Big Sexy continues to turn back the clock on the mound.
Colon has put together five of six quality starts, currently owning a 2.82 ERA. He has only walked four and has allowed four home runs so far this season. His LOB% is at an impressive 82.9%, and induces 40.5% of ground balls. It's unclear whether Colon will be able to sustain this type of production at his age, but he should be given a look as long as he continues to pitch the way he's been pitching. His ERA is sure to go up a bit while the rest of his stats will probably drop down to earth. Regardless, he pitches for a New York Mets team that will surely give him a solid amount of run support.
