Analysis: Howie Kendrick might be resembling Danny Glover nowadays, but at 32, he isn't yet "too old for this...stuff". While Kendrick has had a poor start to the year, especially in power hitting with a mere SLG of .213, he has been looking better of late. In 38 AB in the last two weeks, Kendrick has improved his average and on-base percentage with marks of .289 and .325. Pure power has never been Kendrick's forte, his appeal is batting average combined with power/speed. It is tough to hit for power and steal bases when you have started the season with such a poor AVG and OBP, but now that Kendrick is working to steadily find his stroke, his figures should only be on the up. If he is hitting more and reaching base more, he will reach his usual trend of 10/10 HR/SB or 15/8 potential with an average that should trend close to his career mark of .290. Let Howie work it out, he is already in the process.
