BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
OWNED IN: 1% Fleaflicker
ANALYSIS: Brandon Kintzler recorded his first career save on Wednesday, allowing one hit and striking out one as he preserved the Twins’ 7-5 lead over the Marlins. Kintzler spent the past six seasons with the Brewers, totaling just 181 IP over that span, but was very effective in a setup role in 2013 (2.69 ERA) before battling shoulder and knee injuries over the past two seasons. With Kevin Jepsen sporting a 6.17 ERA, manager Paul Molitor is looking towards Kintzler and Fernando Abad to assume ninth inning duties. Abad also enters this situation with no closing experience, and it’s encouraging for Kintzler that the Twins turned to him on Wednesday night. The 31-year-old is far from a sure bet given his inexperience, but a chance for saves is always intriguing. If you’re desperate for saves, don’t hesitate to take a flyer on Kintzler in deep leagues while Glen Perkins remains sidelined.
