Analysis: His brother Klay may have had a disappointing ending to the 2016 NBA Finals, but Trayce Thompson continues to have an electric season at the plate for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they tread water in the NL playoff race. Carl Crawford was released, Yasiel Puig has struggled immensely, and the LA rotation besides Clayton Kershaw has been shaky at best. As the 39-33 Dodgers are 5.5 games behind the Giants in the NL West and hang on to their wild card spot by a single game, Thompson has found the limelight with his .259/.340/.506 slash line with 11 HR and four stolen bases. His isolated power figure of .247 is impressive for pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium, while his walk rate of 11% has allowed him to reach base 66 times already this season.
His power has made him quite valuable especially when combined with the base running that gives him a power/speed number of 5.9. The 25-year-old Thompson is a must-add now that his everyday spot in the outfield is locked.
