Analysis: Joe Panik is just 25 years old and has already been making a big-time impact for the Giants for years. This season, he has a .256/.321/.407 slash line with seven home runs and five stolen bases in 273 AB. That is good for an isolated power figure of .150 and a solid power/speed number of 5.8. Panik is very efficient and disciplined at the plate. He strikes out in just 10.2% of his plate appearances and walks in 8.6% of them.
Panik had a particularly rough time in May with an ugly slash line of .213/.293/.315. This month, he has recuperated nicely with two home runs, two stolen bases and a solid slash of .275/.330/.418. He performs far better at home with a .271 BA and .350 OBP which is how he has been able to steal four of his five bases. If you are looking for his power to shine though, he does that mainly in away games with a six of his seven home runs coming on the road with a .429 slugging percentage.
