Ben Revere (OF, WAS) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues

OWNED IN: 47% of Fleaflicker leagues

EXPERT ANALYSIS: Ben Revere's season has never really gained momentum, starting with an early season injury. Upon his return, Revere hit just .170 in May over 94 at-bats with two stolen bases. June was better, as he hit .274 with eight steals. In the first week of July, he is hitting .292 although he is yet to steal a base. Interestingly, Revere has a reverse split, hitting .281 against lefties and .215 against righties. His biggest threat may still be in Triple-A. Trea Turner is now seeing time in center field in an effort to get him in the lineup as long as Danny Espinosa keeps hitting. Regardless of average, Revere's value lies in his speed. After finishing in the top 10 in steals each of the past five years, owners were expecting at least 30 SB with Revere at the top of a potent Nationals lineup. With just 10 on the year, he will need to keep getting on base and running more frequently to be worth starting. He is worth a roster spot for his enormous speed potential, but is better used as a fourth outfielder or bench stash until he heats up on the base paths.
