Travis Jankowski (OF, SD) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ team leagues

OWNED IN: 2% of Fleaflicker leagues

EXPERT ANALYSIS: Jon Jay's prolonged injury (6-8 weeks) clears the way for the Padres youth movement to invade the outfield. Travis Jankowski has been on the roster as a fourth outfielder all season, but has received limited playing time until now. Even so, Jankowski produced five steals in just 55 PA through mid-June. Since becoming a starter, Jankowski has swiped eight bags in his last 11 starts. That's the kind of speed any fantasy team could benefit from. His .250 average isn't overly impressive, but in leagues that count on-base percentage, his .363 OBP can help. He has struggled to hit LHP (.160), but his current competition for playing time, Alex Dickerson, is also a left-handed hitter and doesn't bring the type of defense Jankowski does. If you need a boost in SB, Jankowski can provide immediate help. His limitations in other categories likely make him a deep-league only option, unless you are desperate for steals.
