ANALYSIS: Raisel Iglesias is a 26-year old Cuban import and it seems like no matter where the Reds put him, either in the rotation or the bullpen, he is destined to be successful. He started the season off by making five starts and had a 3.49 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 1.27 HR/9, 2.22 BB/9, and 9.2 K/9. After taking some time off to recover from injury, Iglesias returned to the bullpen and has 33 IP in June, July, and August. Across those three months he has a 0.82 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and while he is walking more batters at 3.55 BB/9, he has allowed just two HR for 0.55 HR/9, and has upped his whiff volume at 10.64 K/9. The good news is that while Iglesias has normally been pitching multiple innings in relief, he has finally been given some higher leverage situations with his only two saves coming in his last five outings, and he has also accumulated seven holds since July 5th. Raisel Iglesias has shut down nearly every batter he has faced in the past three months, and although it would be nice if he was starting for the Reds, he is finding plenty of value out of their young and developing bullpen.
