Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks (11/01/16): NHL DFS Cheat Sheet

RotoBallers, welcome back to our daily fantasy hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and FantasyAces. Below you will find our NHL cheat sheet - DFS lineup picks, sleepers and stacks for Tuesday, November 1 of the 2016/2017 NHL season.

After a night off in the NHL we are back with a full 12 game slate tonight. With all teams rested we should see #1 goalies between the pipes for almost every team.

With so many value plays early in the season it makes it much easier to pay up for multiple stud players. It also makes playing two top D men in tournaments a very viable way to construct a GPP lineup.

For those that are new to this, each day we'll be providing you with a few of our top DFS lineup picks for daily league cash games on FanDuel, DraftKings, and FantasyAces. We will also provide you with one of our favorite teams to stack for GPPs. You can grab the rest of our Premium DFS lineup picks and stacks through the NHL Cheat Sheet and DFS Premium Pass below.

Editor's Note: New users that sign up on Fantasy Aces, make a $20 deposit, and enter any game will receive our full season NHL Premium Pass (DFS Cheat Sheets) for free, a $99.99 value. Just email info@rotoballer.com with your new FantasyAces username - and boom, that's it! We will email you with your Premium pass.

NHL Daily League Lineup Picks for Saturday, October 29

Connor McDavid (C, EDM)

DraftKings - $8,600, FanDuel - $8,300, FantasyAces - $5,950

He has quickly joined an elite group of fantasy players(Ovechkin, Crosby, Kane) and he isn't even 20 years old yet. He leads the league with 12 points through his first nine games and comes with huge multi point upside in an elite matchup vs. the Leafs ranked 28th in defense, giving up 3.8 goals per game.

Jeff Skinner (W, CAR)

DraftKings - $6,100, FanDuel - $6,800, FantasyAces - $5,650

While he is priced close to McDavid on Aces he comes at a very nice discount on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight. He has been red hot to start the year with 11 points through seven games including four multi point efforts and points in five straight games. He also gets a boost with a matchup vs. the Senators ranked 22nd in defense, allowing 3.1 goals against per game.

 Alec Martinez (D, LAK)

DraftKings - $4,600, FanDuel - $4,700, FantasyAces - $5,000

Another player that is a bit over priced on Aces but is a top value play at the position on DraftKings and FanDuel in the mid $4K range. You wouldn't notice the Kings offense is struggling to start the year by looking at Martinez's stat line as he has recorded seven points in his first nine games. The offense is due to regress but it is a good sign to see him provide a high floor with blocks and shots making him safe in all formats.

Stacking Option

Edmonton Oilers - Connor McDavid, Milan Lucic, Jordan Eberle

The are one of the lines we can afford to stack tonight with so many excellent value plays early in the season. It's hard to say they will be chalk at elite prices and if they come in under 15% in GPP's that is going to be a win. They have an elite offense in an elite matchup vs. the Leafs who rank 28th in the league allowing 3.8 goals per game

Bonus: General NHL DFS Strategy Notes

For cash games, look at players who can contribute to your score even when they are not providing offense. Some examples are guys who take a ton of shots and defensemen who block a lot of shots. Also, look for guys who get power play time. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury, or just get a promotion and more ice time. It is also recommended to spread out your exposure to three or four different lines, and not put all your eggs in one basket.

For large field tournaments (GPPs), find payers who have multi-point upside and can grab double-digit fantasy points. If you want to stack the most upside in your forwards, a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone - try and look for a defenseman who will get power play time, or a playing time boost due to an injury. For a contrarian approach, paying up at the defense position can be a great strategy - but it also comes with more risk. GPPs bring a great opportunity for goaltenders in the value price range - you can look for backups on good teams.
