RotoBaller NBA Roundup for Tuesday, November 1

If you went out for Halloween, you didn't miss much. If you got off work at 10, drove 80 in a 45 just to get home to catch the second half of the Clippers/Suns game...you were disappointed. All but one game was close so this roundup should be easy peezy.

Game Notes for October 31th, 2016

Atlanta Hawks 106, Sacramento Kings 95

  • Starting with the Hawks, Paul Millsap is playing All-Star level basketball and it's helping the Hawks. Millsap scored 13 points while securing 14 boards and adding 8 assists. Everyone in the Hawks starting scored in double digits and I see Millsap being unstoppabale as the reason. Millsap is an underrated talent. I say this because you will rarely see his name on TV or receiving high praise. He flies under the radar but for how much longer...make sure you play Millsap in any format you can get.
  • Now to the Kings, Boogie could have played much better but he still got a double-double. It's crazy to expect Boogie to put the team on his back every night and even when he can't, Rudy Gay needs help. The Kings play so selfishly...except when Matt Barnes is in. Unless they learn to play, heck, even look like a real team, only Boogie and Rudy Gay are relevant in fantasy.

Chicago Bulls 118, Brooklyn Nets 88

  • The Bulls are surprising me this year. Seeing how Rondo led the Kings to be one of the top scoring teams last year, I should have seen this coming...ESPECIALLY being a Rondo fan. With a guard who lives on distribution and two sharpshooting guards that thrive on spacing and open jump shots, the Bulls backcourt is among the top in the league when it comes to production. The Bulls have been great in rebounds as well and if they can continue to grab rebounds, Butler and Wade will continue to get shots. I was predicting this team to flounder this season but they are proving me wrong and I am not mad at it.
  • The Brooklyn Nets on the other hand have shown promise at times and why they are the laughing stock of the NBA. Don't get to excited Philadelphia, the only reason its the Nets is because its been the 76ers for so long. I think Jeremy Lin is a great fit but other than Lin and Brook Lopez, most people could name another Nets player. If I tell you to check out Sean Kilpatrick because he has been the best bench scorer for the Nets, will you add him to your lineup or google Sean Kilpatrick? I'm going to assume the latter but he scored 13 points on 3-13 shooting. That looks bad but if you think about it, it leaves room for improvement and a rebound night. Kilpatrick is getting around 25 minutes off the bench which means his production exceeds whatever value he may have.

Toronto Raptors 105, Denver Nuggets 102

  • In Toronto, DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry combined for 62 points in a three point win over the Nuggets on Halloween night. When your bench scores 19 points, you need to take the game into your own hands. So in this situation, take the game into 'their' hands. Lowry and DeRozan made their reputation of winning games single handedly, which is nice for fantasy but for the Raptors as a whole, its not good. Jonas Valanciunas didn't have the best game, 12 points / nine rebounds, but he should be the main suspect for a rebound game against he Wizards tomorrow.
  • Denver, Denver, Denver. You have so much talent but something just isn't there. For some reason their decision making is horrendous. Emmanuel Mudiay is turnover prone and most times they just seem out of place defensively. The front court is very talented and Mudiay does have support with Danilo Gallinari, Will Barton, Wilson Chandler slowly finding their rhythm. Unfortunetely all their hustle and effort to make up for their mistakes is leading to heart breaking losses and against high quality teams. Every game they have played in has been decided by five points or fewer. This will benefit them for the long run but stay optimistic Denver, your time is soon.

Los Angeles Clippers 116, Phoenix Suns 98

  • The Clippers looked very good. Their starters put the game away early, Jamal Crawford scored 14 off the bench and the starters cemented a win with a 34 point 4th quarter over a young Suns team. Its not a big deal to get a victory over the Suns but the fact that the entire Clippers squad looked content and played just as well, its nice to see them at full strength. Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and DeAndre Jordan are fantastic fantasy assets and I think they will be consistent all season. Hopefully the Griffin to Jordan oops will be common, it was fun to watch and when the Clippers play fun and loose, they are much better team.
  • The Suns are going to get better but this just won't be their season. Yes, improvements happen every season and through the duration but at the end, they still won't be any better off than they were last season. Devin Booker needs to mature and they need to find a solid front court outside of Tyson Chandler and Alex Len. T.J. Warren has been a pleasant surprise but the Suns cannot rely on one or two players to help them become a better team. They also play a lot of isolation basketball and don't like a team that wants each other to score. Im not saying I'm right but when a team looks like they hate each other, they probably do. The Suns are a mess but TJ Warren and Alex Len could be the saving grace.
