Quarterback Plays for Fantasy Aces
Dak Prescott (@ CLE, $6,450)
Prescott has played well beyond expectations for a fourth-round rookie quarterback. He's now accounted for six touchdowns over his past two games and should continue to ascend with star wide receiver Dez Bryant healthy and playing at a high level. Prescott has a dream matchup on tap against a Browns pass defense that is one of the worst in the league when it comes to limiting opposing quarterbacks. Prescott is cheap and carries a good deal of upside heading into this weekend.
Colin Kaepernick (vs. NO, $6,000)
This is shaping up as a great week to line up two value quarterbacks on Aces and pay up at the other positions. Kaepernick has not been great from a passing standpoint in his two starts this season, but he's augmented his fantasy production with fantastic rushing numbers. Kaepernick has rolled up 150 rushing yards over his two starts this season, which is almost the equivalent of four passing touchdowns if you play in four-point passing touchdown leagues. He should be able to do damage on the ground and in the air this weekend against a Saints pass defense that ranks 28th in the league in DVOA according to Football Outsiders.
Running Back Plays for Fantasy Aces
Ezekiel Elliot (@ CLE, $6,150)
At this point of the season, it's becoming really hard to get away from Elliot in daily leagues if you can afford him. He's basically become a lock for 100 yards every week while also having as good a chance to score a touchdown as anyone in the league considering the talented offensive line he runs behind. Look for Elliot to turn in another huge day against a hapless Browns defense in Week 9. Cleveland's run defense ranks just 31st in the league in DVOA according to Football Outsiders. It's hard to imagine a scenario in which Elliot doesn't finish as a top-five fantasy running back this weekend.
Charcandrick West (vs. JAX, $3,900)
West is a fantastic play this weekend, provided that Spencer Ware is ruled out ahead of time. Ware suffered a concussion during action in Week 8 and, as of Thursday, has yet to hit the practice field. With Jamaal Charles landing on injured reserved, it is looking increasingly likely that West will have the Chiefs' backfield all to himself this weekend. The matchup with Jacksonville sets up perfectly for West as the Jaguars are tougher on the pass, which should funnel additional work West's way. He should be a popular play, but at his pricing it's a popular play worth plugging into those lineups.
Wide Receiver Plays for Fantasy Aces
Brandin Cooks (@ SF, $5,300)
Cooks shapes up as an excellent receiver play on Aces this weekend. I'm aware that Cooks, and to a lesser extent, Drew Brees have had their struggles on the road away from the Superdome, but this matchup is simply too good to pass up. The 49ers pass defense ranks 20th in the league in DVOA. That number falls to 32nd, last in the league, against opposing WR1s. This places Cooks squarely on the radar as a top play, even on the road. There's a good chance the well-documented home/road splits for Cooks work to keep his ownership down, which puts him in an excellent spot for your tournament lineups this weekend.
T.Y. Hilton (@ GB, $5,100)
Hilton is coming off an extremely disappointing game which saw him catch just one pass for 20 yards. No need to worry as he remains the Colts' number one option in the passing game. The return of Donte Moncrief should only serve to take some attention away from Hilton as he gets set to take on the Packers in Week 9. Green Bay's secondary has really struggled without top cornerback Sam Shields, ranking 16th in the league in pass defense DVOA, but just 25th against opposing number one receivers. Look for Hilton to atone for his slow Week 8 and post some big numbers in what should be a high scoring game.
Tight End Play for Fantasy Aces
Antonio Gates (vs. TEN, $4,000)
Just when he thought he was done, Gates burst back on the scene in Week 8, catching four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. He was also in on 67% of the Chargers' snaps, his highest total all season. Gates should remain a main piece of the Chargers' air attack, especially with Travis Benjamin looking questionable with a knee sprain. If Benjamin is forced to sit, expect Phillip Rivers to funnel extra targets Gates' way. Another thing to keep in mind is that Tennessee's defense has had its struggles against tight ends this season.
Defense/Special Teams Play for Fantasy Aces
Kansas City Chiefs (vs. JAX, $3,300)
The Chiefs pull a plus home matchup against a turnover-prone Jacksonville Jaguars offense. Blake Bortles has taken a big step back this season, ranking third in the league with nine interceptions while also taking 17 sacks (tied for 10th-most in the league). The Chiefs only have two interceptions on the season, but they still should be able to take advantage of the matchup in Week 9.
