BALLER MOVE: Target ~400
CURRENT ADP: 460
ANALYSIS: Delino DeShields’ strong spring has put him firmly in the conversation for the Rangers’ starting left field job, with Jurickson Profar and Ryan Rua as his main competition. There’s even been talk of sliding him into the leadoff role. The 24-year-old speedster slashed just .209/.275/.313 across 203 plate appearances last year, but proved that he could hit big-league pitching as a rookie in 2015, with a .261/.344/.374 slash line and 25 steals in just 492 plate appearances. Someone with DeShields’ speed should manage better than a .272 BABIP, so his rate stats are likely to improve as long as he sees decent playing time. A starting job — especially if he lands atop the powerful Rangers lineup — could mean at least 30 steals and a spot on some mixed-league rosters for DeShields.
