ANALYSIS: The Mets have gotten off to a hot start offensively and Cabrera is no exception. While he isn't leaving the yard at the same rate as his teammates, Cabrera has driven in nine runs and scored nine times. Cabrera quietly got up to 23 HR last season and could easily do so again. He's slashing .286/.310/.429, but should improve on the OBP as his 3.4% BB% is less than half his career rate. Cabrera is hitting in the second spot of the order each night, in front of the scorching hot Yoenis Cespedes, so expect the runs to keep coming.
The shortstop position is more front-loaded than ever before, with young stars populating the top tier. The drop-off gets steep quickly, however, and you may be hard-pressed to find someone like Cabrera who is contributing across most categories. If you're stuck with an injured Marcus Semien or Jean Segura or a slumping Dansby Swanson, consider adding Cabrera.
