BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
OWNED IN: 7% / 5% of Yahoo Leagues
ANALYSIS: Cam Bedrosian was the latest closer to go down. Bedrosian was moved to the 10-day DL with a groin injury, but it's unclear how long he'll be out. When healthy, Bedrosian is a top-10 closer, so don't drop him in any league.
In his place, Bud Norris or Blake Parker will fill in. Norris picked up the save last night with a strikeout and a hit in one scoreless inning of work. On the year he has 11 K with a 3.73 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 9.2 IP of work. Norris has more experience, and was given the first crack by manager Mike Scioscia, so he's definitely the favorite if you're looking short term saves.
Parker has 12 K in 8.1 IP with a 3.24 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. Parker hasn't been a successful major league pitcher since 2012 with the Cubs. Norris, meanwhile, has spent several years as a struggling starting pitcher, and could be one of many starters to make the successful transition to the bullpen.
While neither Parker nor Norris has much long term value, it remains to be seen how long Bedrosian will be sidelined for. The Angels don't provide their closers many save chances, but if you need some saves in the short term, Norris, and to a lesser extent Parker, both make for interesting speculative pickups in deep leagues.
