Welcome back for another week of daily fantasy NASCAR. If parity is what the sport was seeking with the new stage racing and points system, it has hit the nail on the head through nearly a third of the season. With Ricky Stenhouse Jr. winning last week at Talladega, we have now seen eight different winners in 10 races. Maybe the most surprising thing is that none of those wins have come from a Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. I don't expect that to last much longer!
This week the Cup series heads to Kansas Speedway for the season's first night race. It will be a bit of an adjustment for drivers and teams after three weeks of short track and superspeedway racing. It will also be a changeup in our fantasy strategy as we will be back looking for a dominator who can pick up a ton of points by leading the most laps.
Place differential value will also play a huge role this week as 11 drivers failed pre-qualifying tech inspection and will start from the rear. Let's take a look at this week's top picks.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks - Go Bowling 400
Kyle Busch ($9,400)
He came close to picking up his first win of the season last week but came up just short once again for his third Top 3 finish of the season. Even after the close call, Busch has seen his salary drop to a season low $9,400 making him a top value this week. It also helps that there are so many place differential values which are, in turn, going to lower his ownership which has hovered around 50% lately. He was fastest in final practice and should be in contention when the white flag drops.
Jimmie Johnson ($10,100)
Jimmie's price has finally climbed back above $10K this week but that doesn't stop him from being a top play. He was one of the 11 drivers who will start back in the field(29th) due to failing inspection and comes with a ton of place differential value. He is going to be the chalk this week and a must play in cash games. GPP players can definitely make a case for fading his ownership but it is going to be tough as he showed Top 10 speed in practice.
Kasey Kahne ($7,800)
After finishing five of the last six races 20th or worse, Kahne bounced back at Talladega with his second Top 5 finish of the season. He, like his teammates, failed inspection and will start near the back which gives him a ton of value this week in fantasy. It also helps that he ranks fifth overall in career track history with a 13.4 average finish. Anywhere near that number this week would result in a great fantasy day.
