With the Premier League season all but wrapped up, Fantasy Football fanatics will be squeezing the last few points possible in the remaining games as they jostle for first position in their work or friend leagues. There have been some exceptional individual performances across the season and certain players have managed real high point scores that may not have been predicted at the start of the campaign. We've produced a round-up of the highest scorers and those with best value for money, as well as the likelihood of a repeat performance next season.
Diego Costa
Chelsea's big man has had a great season, scoring goals for fun and lifting the Premier League trophy with two games to go. Many have had him in their team from the start, with goals and assists guaranteed at the start of the season based on previous form and reputation. He sits in 6th place on overall points, only let down by his disciplinary record with 9 yellow cards over the season. There is a lot of speculation hanging over him at the moment thanks to plenty of interest from overseas, specifically China where teams are lining up to offer him a lucrative salary. If he's still in England at the end of the summer, he's a definite pick for next year's fantasy team.
Eden Hazard
After a particularly awful season under Mourinho in 2015/16, The Belgian is back with bells on, statistically the second best fantasy player on 213 points with a couple of games remaining. There is no doubt that he has been a key component in Chelsea's title win and once again Real Madrid and co are desperate for his signature. With 9 assists and 14 goals he has terrified defences the entire season, making a favourite pick with almost 35% of fantasy players drafting him into their squad. Again, if Chelsea can retain his signature he's entirely worth £11-£13 million price tag that he'll likely have when the next edition is released.
Romelu Lukaku
Everton have punched slightly above their weight this season thanks to some good buys and strong tactics from Dutch manager Ronald Koeman. It's quite incredible that he has managed to retain the services of the forward, who has once again torn up the league with his strength and technique in front of goal. With 24 goals and six assists to his name, the bonus points have flown in for the Belgian and he is 2nd place on the fantasy leaderboard and top of the golden boot standings. It'll be nigh on impossible for Everton to keep him this season with Chelsea knocking on the door. A must have if he is still in the Premier League next year.
Dele Alli
It's going well for the England attacking midfielder at the moment, with the youngster gaining plaudits on the field and racking up fantasy points. He seems to fit well into the Tottenham setup, feeding assists into Kane and Son and making good runs off his peers. It's very likely that he'll be at Tottenham again next season despite mild speculation and after a fourth place finish in the overall points table, it's certain he'll be a popular pick next season.
Alex Sanchez
Despite a turbulent season, Sanchez has put in some amazing performances and undoubtedly been Arsenal's best player. He signature is probably the most sought after in Europe at the moment and it's likely that his decision to leave or stay next season will depend on the Gunners getting a European place or finding a new manager, both of which are so uncertain that there are plenty of great odds on every eventuality. He's the best fantasy player this season, racking up an incredible 21 goals and 10 assists from the wing. It's looking fairly certain that he won't be an Arsenal player next season, but if Chelsea snap him up then players should get him in their squad from day one.
