ANALYSIS: Sir Didi Gregorius missed the first three weeks of the season, but has absolutely raked since he returned from a shoulder injury on April 28. Gregorius is hitting .330/.359/.474 through 97 at-bats, with three home runs, 17 RBI and one steal. While it is a tiny sample size, it is worth pointing out that his hard-hit rate is up slightly from 2016, when he posted a career high 20 home runs. Additionally his pull-rate has jumped considerably as well, from 37.6 last year to 46.4 this year. As a left-handed pull hitter with an increasing hard hit rate, fantasy owners can hope that that will translate to home runs in the friendly dimensions of Yankee Stadium. His two home runs in the last three games certainly indicate that the power may be lurking just around the corner. While Gregorius’ .358 BABIP is likely not sustainable, there is no reason to believe he can’t hit around .280 again this season, and as long as he stays healthy double-digit home runs certainly seems plausible, if not likely, for the 27-year-old. In 12-team leagues and beyond, that is great value at the shortstop position, especially for owners who missed out on the big name shortstops early on.
