ANALYSIS: Charlie Morton was enjoying a nice season until an injury in late-May sidelined him for over a month. He has made three starts since his return in July, and while the results aren't fantastic, Morton's high strikeout numbers and the high-powered offense behind him will help keep him fantasy relevant as long as he is healthy. Since his return, Morton has gone 2-1 across 17 2/3 innings, giving up 13 hits and 9 runs while striking out 18 and walking seven. The seven walks is certainly a concern, but Morton has been a strikeout machine all season and has been able to limit the damage for the most part. His 4.18 ERA is right in line with his 4.15 FIP, so he is performing about as expected. A 4.18 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP may not seem too exciting, but with a career high 9.92 K/9 and a 7-4 record, Morton at least deserves consideration in 12+ team leagues and beyond. He should be good for 10 more wins (health assuming) and over 100 more strikeouts. That type of production is hard to find on the waiver wire.
