Brad Hand (RP, SD) - Closers and Saves Waiver Wire Adds

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Saves Leagues

OWNED IN: 29% of Yahoo Leagues

ANALYSIS: Earlier today, Padres closer Brandon Maurer was traded to the Kansas City Royals along with Trevor Cahill and Ryan Buchter. Brad Hand should now take over as the new Padres closer, although it's possible that he can soon be traded as well.

Hand has had an excellent season so far as the setup man for San Diego, posting a 2.12 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 66:14 K:BB ratio in 51 innings pitched. As long as Hand remains on the Padres, he should see save opportunities and add value for fantasy baseball owners. Maurer racked up 20 saves for the Padres before being traded, so there is more value than meets the eye here.

If you are in a league that values saves, Hand is a solid waiver wire add for near-term save chances. He is only 29% owned in Yahoo leagues, and can give you elite ratios while earning saves.
