ANALYSIS: When the Spurs selected Dejounte Murray late in the first round in 2016, it was clear they wanted him to become Tony Parker’s successor at the point guard position. The University of Washington product played sparingly as a rookie, averaging just 3.4 points over just 8.5 minutes, but he showed glimpses of promise, particularly in the postseason (5.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists in 15.3 minutes per game). Murray logged 25 minutes in San Antonio’s opener on Wednesday, posting 16 points on 7-for-8 shooting with five rebounds, two assists, a block and two steals. The 21-year-old should continue to see quality minutes as long as Parker is sidelined with a quadriceps injury (until at least December), but if he keeps performing at a high level, that playing time will remain. Playing in a strong system with a talented roster makes Murray a worthwhile add in most fantasy formats.
