7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Michael Fulmer (elbow) is doing fine and is on track for spring training four months after he had ulnar transposition surgery to reposition the ulnar nerve in his right elbow. "Everything is going fantastic," Fulmer told Tigers play-by-play broadcaster Dan Dickerson and Pat Caputo on Tuesday night on the TigerTalk Hot Stove radio show. "We're already kind of ahead of where our medical staff and physical therapist [expected]. They're laying out a throwing program and we're basically ahead of where they were thinking we would be at right now." He's been doing long toss up to 120 feet and plans to throw off a mound in roughly a week. After winning Rookie of the Year in 2016, Fulmer's numbers fell a bit last year (3.83 ERA, 6.2 K/9), but his elbow injury late in the season played a big part. The young right-hander has plenty of upside, and his control is spot on, but he'll be a little more of a risk coming off surgery, and he may get off to a rather slow start.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
