Diamondbacks Avoid Arbitration With Several More Players
7 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks avoided salary arbitration with starting pitcher Robbie Ray (one year, $3.95 million), starting pitcher Taijuan Walker (one year, $4.825 million), outfielder David Peralta and infielder Chris Owings. Ray was excellent for fantasy owners in 2017 with a 15-5 record and 2.89 ERA, and he managed to strike out 218 batters in 162 innings. If he can keep his walks under control, Ray could once again be a top fantasy starter in 2018. Walker was 9-9 with a 3.49 ERA. Peralta is mainly a platoon outfielder with great splits against right-handed pitchers. Owings missed half of the 2017 season due to injury but should be ready to go in spring training.
