Randal Grichuk Likely To See Bulk Of Playing Time In Right Field
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk, who was traded over from the Cardinals on Friday, is the leading candidate to see most of the playing time in right field in 2018, according to general manager Ross Atkins. Toronto likes his defense, so he could play all three outfield positions. It makes perfect sense with the Blue Jays moving on from free-agent oufielder Jose Bautista. With defensive stud Kevin Pillar cemented in center field, Grichuk will mainly be a candidate for the corner outfield spots. Grichuk has plenty of power (46 homers the last two years), and his fantasy value will receive a boost at hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. However, he won't truly break out unless he lowers his strikeout rate and becomes more selective at the dish.
