Lance Lynn, Alex Cobb May Wait For Yu Darvish To Sign
7 years agoFree-agent starting pitchers Lance Lynn and Alex Cobb could wait for free-agent starters Yu Darvish and Jake Arrieta to sign before they land deals. Both Lynn and Cobb appear to be fallback options for teams that lose out on Darvish and Arrieta. Arrieta, who is the consensus No. 2 starter on the market behind Darvish, has been linked to around six teams but isn't showing signs of being close to signing. Reports indicated Lynn and Cobb are looking for deals worth $15-20 million annually over four, five or six years. Lynn and Cobb have both missed recent seasons due to Tommy John surgery, but Lynn has been more consistent for longer, topping 175 innings in all five of his full seasons. Cobb certainly has more fantasy upside but may be more of an injury risk. Lynn has his downside to for fantasy owners, as the right-hander relied on his fastball nearly 80 percent of the time in 2017.
