Homer Bailey Fully Healthy Heading Into 2018
7 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Homer Bailey enters Spring Training fully healthy for the first time in several seasons. Bailey has undergone several surgical procedures on his right arm over the past few seasons, including Tommy John surgery in 2015. The veteran made 18 starts for the Reds in 2017, finishing with a 6-9 record and a 6.43 ERA. Bailey's manager, Bryan Price, feels the full offseason will be beneficial to his starting pitcher. Price told reporters, "I think the repetition, the ability to have a normal offseason, a regular long-toss plan, have a normal Spring Training will go a long way in him regaining his status as one of the better starters in our mix." Bailey is a wait-and-see option in fantasy leagues, as he isn't the same pitcher who broke into the big leagues in 2007 and has two no-hitters on his resume. He's worth tracking in deeper leagues and NL-only formats in case he gets off to a fast start this season, but he should open the season on waiver wires.
