Blue Jays Optimistic Of Josh Donaldson Extension
7 years agoWhile Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson expects to hit free agency next winter, Toronto general manager Ross Atkins seems a bit more positive about the possibility of inking an extension before that. According to Atkins, it’s not a matter of if, but when. “I think it’s yet, you know. We haven’t realized a deal yet.” Donaldson is coming off another great year where he slashed .270/.385/.559 with 33 home runs, but he needed an insanely hot second half to do it after his first few months were marred with injuries. Turning 33 next December, Donaldson’s market at his age in a stacked free agent class (keeping in mind the very slow offseason we’re witnessing now), will be among the more fascinating developments to watch if he indeed tests the waters.
