Aaron Nola Named Opening Day Starter
7 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler named starting pitcher Aaron Nola as the team's Opening Day starter. Nola was the unquestioned ace of the staff in 2017, going 12-11 with a 3.53 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 184 strikeouts in just 168 innings. His elbow proved healthy all year and his velocity spiked. If he can stay healthy in 2018, he'll be a low-end fantasy ace with plenty of strikeout upside, just don't count on a ton of wins on a rebuilding Philly club. Nola is only 25 this year, too, meaning he's an excellent dynasty/keeper commodity.
