7 years agoBoston Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel has left the team to be with his infant daughter, who is having a second heart procedure in Boston, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. Kimbrel learned his daughter would be born with a heart defect early in the 2017 season and she has already had one procedure after her birth on November 3rd. Despite this terrible news, Kimbrel was still able to perform amazingly by striking out 126 batters in 69 innings. He also saved 35 games and had a 1.43 ERA. Understandably, Kimbrel will likely return to camp once he is comfortable and his family issues are stable. Kimbrel remains one of the top closers in the game.--Ellis Canady - RotoBaller
