Tim Lincecum a Lottery Ticket for Texas
7 years agoPending a physical, pitcher Tim Lincecum will join the Texas Rangers on an incentive-laden one-year contract. Evan P. Grant reports that the deal is for just $1 million for the season. The former two-time Cy Young winner is trying to resurrect his career one more time after showing little life in a 2016 Angels campaign that finished after just nine starts and a 9.16 ERA. It appears that Lincecum is looking to the bullpen this time, which may be more reasonable, especially considering that at age 33, he is seven years removed from his last successful season in the rotation. That said, he's now two years removed from hip surgery and reportedly in great shape, with better velocity in his most recent showcase than he showed in 2016. This is very likely much ado about nothing, but with a bullpen in turmoil, especially with the talented Matt Bush pushing for a rotation spot, there are avenues for the once great Freak to find fantasy relevance. Don't even consider drafting him, but it wouldn't hurt to add him to your watch list.
