7 years agoSeattle Mariners infielder Gordon Beckham is doing all he can to make the Opening Day roster and is currently hitting everything in sight. Through 19 preseason at-bats, Beckham has 10 hits with four extra-base hits and is slashing .526/.625/.842. The once highly-touted prospect is looking to make the team on the merits of his defense and infield flexibility. He always has been a streaky hitter and has a career batting average of only .239. He will have to keep this up if he wants to supplant Taylor Motter as a main bench piece for Seattle this season. If he makes the team, he will not be a threat to take at-bats away from All-Star Robinson Cano or Jean Segura.--Joey C - RotoBaller
