Reds Have High Hopes For Luis Castillo
7 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds have high hopes for right-hander Luis Castillo. If he continues to develop, Castillo could eventually turn into a top of the rotation starter for the club. Armed with a 98 mph fastball, one team insider told reporters that Castillo is currently their best pitcher and that he sees him as a future No. 2 starter. When asked if Castillo could turn into an ace, pitching coach Mack Jenkins said, " I think so. He’s got a good delivery. He has two above-average pitches with the fastball and the changeup. He had the propensity to improve with the slider." Castillo has made three starts this spring, posting an 0-1 record, 3.24 ERA and nine strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings of work. He should serve as a solid fantasy pitcher this season.
