Ian Desmond's Abysmal Spring Training Could Lead To Less At-Bats
7 years agoColorado Rockies first baseman and outfielder Ian Desmond has had an abysmal spring training, as he collected only his second hit in 25 at-bats with a double against the Diamondbacks. Not only is Desmond's on-base percentage exactly the same as his batting average at .080, but he has also racked up 11 strikeouts. One of the strikeouts came in the Diamondbacks game on Monday, where he struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning. The crowded Rockies outfield with David Dahl, Raimel Tapia, Carlos Gonzalez and Gerardo Parra, as well as the solid play from Ryan McMahon at first base, means Desmond is really going to have to pull his stats together to earn an everyday spot in the lineup right now. Keep an eye on official word from Rockies manager Bud Black, but this start isn't promising for fantasy owners.
