Giants Reportedly Interested In Jerick McKinnon
7 years agoThe New York Giants have reportedly expressed interest in free-agent running back Jerick McKinnon. McKinnon, who played behind running back Latavius Murray in Minnesota last season, has openly conveyed his desire to have a more prominent role as a featured back. With that unlikely happening as a Viking, he is projected to test the free-agent market. McKinnon was second on the team in rushing attempts and rushing yards with 150 and 570, respectively. He also had five touchdowns, with two of those coming through the air, and was an integral part of the team’s rushing attack after rookie running back Dalvin Cook went down with a season-ending knee injury. With his ability to run and catch passes from the backfield, he would be a welcome addition to a Giants team that may have to live without running backs Orleans Darkwa and Shane Vereen, who are both unrestricted free agents. If he does end up in New York, McKinnon will be reunited with former Vikings offensive coordinator and current Giants head coach Pat Shurmur and will likely see his fantasy value drastically increase for the 2018-2019 campaign.
