7 years agoThe Texas Rangers sent first baseman Ronald Guzman down to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday. The 23-year old had a poor showing in spring training, hitting just .125/.258/.208 with a 2/3 BB/K rate. Guzman was a long shot to make the roster to start the year, but his poor performance definitely is cause for concern for his future prospects. He has a hit over power profile and few positional options outside of first base, but putting up just three hits on 24 at-bats brings up questions on the hit tool as well. There isn't much to prove for Guzman in Round Rock, as he produced a .298/.372/.434 slash line last year, but he'll need to hit early and often if he's going to be in consideration for a midseason call-up.--Sean Scampton
