Michael Brantley To Open Season On DL
7 years agoCleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley will open the 2018 season on the 15-day disabled list. Brantley had offseason surgery on his ankle and only just made his spring debut this past Wednesday. Manager Terry Francona told reporters that Brantley has not suffered a setback and is just not ready to "carry the load" just yet. Brantley has struggled with his health over the past two seasons, appearing in just total 101 games. As a result of Brantley going on the DL, outfielder Tyler Naquin has been informed that he has made the team. Naquin was a semi-regular outfielder for the Tribe in 2016, hitting 14 homers and batting .296 in 116 games, but he appeared in just 19 games for the club in 2017. Unless Naquin tears the cover off the ball, he will presumably be sent back to the minors when Brantley is ready to be activated.
