Browns Add Drew Stanton As Backup, Expected To Shop Cody Kessler
7 years agoThe Cleveland Browns and quarterback Drew Stanton agreed to a two-year deal worth $6.5 million on Sunday. Stanton is expected to serve as a backup for Tyrod Taylor in the 2018 season. The team is fully expected to use an early draft pick on a rookie quarterback in the NFL draft in April, which could make third-year signal-caller Cody Kessler expendable. According to a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Browns are expected to begin shopping Kessler. Kessler started eight games for Cleveland in 2016 but didn't show much improvement in his 2017 season. The Browns are unlikely to get much in return in a Kessler trade.
