Albert Almora Has Rough Spring
7 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora has struggled this spring and will be the team’s fourth outfielder. Almora was in a competition with outfielder Ian Happ for the the center field job, but Happ was on a tear this spring and ran away with the job, while Almora hit .164 in 55 at-bats. Almora will still fight for at-bats in the outfield and can play all three outfield positions. Almora crushed left-handed pitching in 2017 to the tune of a .342 batting average. He will likely draw most of his starts against lefties, but can also push outfielder Jason Heyward for playing time if Heyward continues to struggle offensively. Aside from daily leagues, Almora can be avoided to start 2018.
