Colin Moran Batting Eighth on Opening Day
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Colin Moran is slotted to bat eighth on Opening Day versus the Detroit Tigers. The 25-year-old was acquired from the Houston Astros in January as a part of the Gerrit Cole trade and immediately supplanted David Freese as the starter at the hot corner. Moran unlocked some power in Triple-A last year, mashing a career-best 18 home runs and slashing .308/.373/.543 in only 79 games before a promotion to the big leagues. He only received 12 plate appearances before his season ended when he fouled a ball off his face in a freak incident. Now healthy, he'll get the lion's share of playing time for the Pirates at third and could emerge on the fantasy radar if his 2017 power surge translates to the majors this season.
