Josh Harrison Finishes a Triple Short of Cycle
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates second baseman Josh Harrison played a huge role in his team's doubleheader sweep on Sunday, going 3-for-5 with a double and a home run in the nightcap. His homer was the shortest recorded in all of baseball through the season's first weekend at 342 feet, but it counted all the same. That being said, it shows why his career-best power surge in 2017 is hard to trust. Although he hit 16 home runs, his average exit velocity (84.1 mph) was below league average by more than 2 mph. He did, however, see an uptick in fly-ball percentage and launch angle, so there's a chance he can maintain the power numbers. Regardless, he should provide a solid batting average and at least 10 steals, giving him value as a backup fantasy infielder at the very least.
